Bucharest Mayor General Ciprian Ciucu showed Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş around Bucharest on Saturday. Yavaş is on a three-day official visit to Romania. The two traveled by tourist bus through the city center, visited Lacul Morii Island and the Romanian Athenaeum, and discussed developing joint projects.
The route began in University Square and continued through Victory Square, past the Arch of Triumph and the House of the Free Press. The guide told the Turkish guests about the capital’s main buildings and monuments, while Mansur Yavaş said Bucharest was beautiful and had impressive architecture.
At Lacul Morii Island, Ciprian Ciucu presented the Turkish mayor with projects to expand green spaces and bring people closer to the water. The mayor of Bucharest announced the planting of 200 trees and the development of an approximately two-kilometer linear park at the base of the embankment.
The visit ended at the Romanian Athenaeum. A day earlier, the two mayors had met at Bucharest City Hall and discussed increasing the number of flights between Bucharest and Ankara, cultural and university cooperation, investment in tourism, and exchanging experience regarding the “park city” concept. Opportunities in the medical sector and strengthening economic relations between the two cities were also discussed.
