On Friday morning, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan welcomed the President of the Republic of India, Droupadi Murmu, during an official visit to Romania.
Bolojan emphasized the importance of trade relations, mentioning that India is Romania's third largest trading partner in the Indo-Pacific region, with trade exchanges of nearly 1.3 billion dollars last year.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as energy, defense industry, technology, pharmaceuticals, and the production of fertilizers. According to interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the goal is to double the volume of trade exchanges and transform the bilateral relationship into a Strategic Partnership by 2028, when 80 years of diplomatic relations will be celebrated.
A key aspect of the meeting was connectivity. In this context, the port of Constanța has the potential to become an important point for Indian goods in the European market.
Ilie Bolojan also highlighted the need to improve air connectivity and cooperation in education, culture, research, and innovation.
