Mihai Daraban, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), stated that the Port of Constanța can become an entry point for natural gas from Turkmenistan to Europe, by connecting with the transport infrastructure from Azerbaijan and Georgia, followed by the BRUA pipeline.

This initiative could stimulate economic cooperation between Romania and Turkmenistan, especially in the energy sector, according to Mihai Daraban.

Recent discussions with the ambassador of Turkmenistan, Annamammet Annayev, focused on identifying collaboration opportunities, including the resumption of the AGRI project, which would facilitate access to gas from the Caspian region to the European market.

The ambassador highlighted Turkmenistan's economic growth, with a GDP growth of 6.3% in the first half of 2026, and emphasized the importance of port-to-port cooperation between Constanța and Turkmenbaşı.
