The National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue meets at the Victoria Palace to discuss the increase of the minimum wage for the year 2026. The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, argues that there are solid reasons for increasing the minimum wage, considering that inflation of over 9% affects the purchasing power of employees. Although the PSD supports this measure, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan mentioned that there is not much room for growth, and the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, has been consistently against increasing the minimum wage. Unions from all sectors are demanding an increase in the minimum wage, threatening protests if it remains stagnant. On the other hand, SMEs Romania proposes to maintain the minimum wage at 4,050 lei, citing the economic pressures faced by businesses.
