Traian Băsescu, the former president of Romania, launched vehement attacks against Donald Trump, accusing him of mishandling the war in the Middle East and affecting the international relations of the United States. In an interview with B1 TV, Băsescu stated that Trump had contempt for Europeans and undermined the existence of NATO, generating a rejection from several European states. Băsescu described Trump's approach in the Middle East as "childish," mentioning that the American president failed to achieve the established objectives, leaving behind a damaged image of the USA. The former leader emphasized the need for diplomatic dialogue, recalling the previous strategies of American administrations that negotiated with Iran, in contrast to Trump's military approach. Băsescu concluded that the US intervention did not achieve the main objectives and that Trump exits the conflict with a negative record, unable to protect his allies in the Gulf.
