Traian Băsescu, critic of the political class: "When we are left without electricity, when drones are falling around us, they are getting their hair done and going to Cotroceni"

Former President Traian Băsescu commented on the drone incident in the Black Sea, stating that it was not targeting the Neptun Deep platform, but was a drone adrift, observed by a commercial ship.

Băsescu emphasized that the platform is located in Romania's exclusive economic zone, which does not enjoy national sovereignty and, therefore, does not benefit from NATO protection.

He called on the authorities to explain why the drone did not explode when it was hit by a Romanian F-16. Băsescu criticized the political class, accusing them of not reacting firmly enough to drone incidents and focusing on superficial aspects.

He also mentioned regional cooperation between Romania, Turkey, and Bulgaria in the Black Sea, which could intervene in certain situations without involving NATO. The incident occurred on Thursday when a naval drone was destroyed by the Romanian Army.
