Romanian Army Day is being celebrated in Bucharest on Saturday with military and religious ceremonies, wreath-laying ceremonies, demonstrations and a torchlight procession. The events, organized by the Ministry of National Defence, are taking place at several locations across the capital and include special measures to ensure participants’ safety and keep traffic flowing.

The program begins at 08:00 in Carol I Park, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Wreaths and floral tributes will be laid, military oaths will be taken, the guard will be changed, and flyovers and demonstrations will be held. Events in the park will end at 16:00.

During the same period, ceremonies will take place at the Heroes of the Homeland Monument, in front of the “Carol I” National Defence University, and at the Monument to the Heroes Fallen in Theaters of Operations and on Romanian Territory, in front of the National Children’s Palace.

In the evening, between 19:00 and 22:00, military personnel will organize a torchlight procession. The route starts at the National Military Circle Palace and continues along Calea Victoriei, Regina Elisabeta Boulevard, Mihail Kogălniceanu Boulevard, Splaiul Independenței, Cotroceni Road, Iuliu Maniu Boulevard and Timișoara Boulevard, ending at the headquarters of the 30th Guard Brigade.

The Traffic Brigade has announced traffic restrictions and recommends that drivers avoid the affected areas, drive cautiously and keep a safe distance between vehicles.
