Before the explosion in Teleorman, other incidents had been reported in the country in which the blasts were attributed to gas accumulation or the handling of a gas cylinder. For example, in Sihlea (Vrancea), an explosion destroyed two homes and an animal shelter after, according to initial checks, combustible gases had accumulated in a home supplied with LPG from an external tank.
Other cases also involved burn injuries: in Bucharest, two people were injured after a gas cylinder exploded during renovation work, while in Misentea (Harghita), two men suffered burns after gases accumulated from a cylinder used in a smokehouse caused an explosion, without it being followed by a fire.
