Two men were injured after a gas cylinder exploded in Bucharest

Two men, aged 37 and 57, were injured after a gas cylinder exploded in a courtyard in Bucharest. The victims suffered burns, received medical care at the scene and were taken to hospital. The explosion was not followed by a fire, according to the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISUBIF).

According to the Bucharest Police’s initial checks, the two men were carrying out renovation work in the courtyard of a building. They allegedly tried to open a gas cylinder, at which point the blast reportedly occurred.

One of the victims was taken to Bucharest University Emergency Hospital, while the other was taken to the “Bagdasar-Arseni” Clinical Emergency Hospital. Their condition was not specified.

Two water-and-foam firefighting vehicles and four first-aid crews responded at the scene. Firefighters checked the area and determined that the explosion had not caused a fire. Police are continuing their investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
