Two men were injured on Tuesday following an explosion at a smokehouse belonging to a meat-processing factory in the village of Misentea, Leliceni commune, Harghita County. The blast was caused by gas accumulating from a cylinder used in the smokehouse and was not followed by a fire.
One of the victims, a 63-year-old man, suffered burns on approximately 40% of his body, affecting his upper limbs, chest, face and back. He was taken over by a crew from the County Ambulance Service, including a doctor.
The second victim, a 36-year-old man, suffered burns on approximately 10% of his body, affecting his upper limbs and face. He was taken over by a SMURD crew.
Two crews from the Miercurea-Ciuc Fire Department responded at the scene, with a firefighting vehicle and a SMURD ambulance, along with a crew from the County Ambulance Service. Both victims were transported to the Emergency Reception Unit of the Miercurea-Ciuc County Emergency Hospital for medical care.
