Explosion at the starch factory in Medgidia: Two people were injured and transported to the hospital

Two people were injured in an explosion followed by a fire at the starch factory in Medgidia, Constanța County. The incident occurred at a grain silo, and the victims suffered burns to their faces and upper limbs.

According to representatives of the Constanța Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the fire was extinguished by factory employees before firefighters arrived. The rescuers were called to deal with the effects of the explosion and assess the victims.

Two firefighting vehicles, a vehicle for transporting personnel and multiple victims, a first-aid crew, a CBRN crew, a County Ambulance Service crew, and the SMURD helicopter were deployed at the scene.

The two people were transported to the hospital for investigations and additional medical care, one by the SMURD helicopter and the other by the County Ambulance Service ambulance. The authorities continue their checks to establish the causes and circumstances of the explosion.
