A 53-year-old man from Prahova County was taken to hospital with burns on Thursday morning after an explosion occurred at his home in Gorgota commune. The blast severely damaged the property, but was not followed by a fire.
Firefighters immediately intervened at the scene and provided assistance to the victim. According to representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the force of the explosion injured the homeowner and affected approximately 50% of the house.
The explosion also damaged the house’s load-bearing structure. Following assessments, the property was declared uninhabitable, meaning the owner cannot return home for the time being.
The cause of the blast will be established following an investigation. One of the hypotheses being considered by the authorities is a buildup of butane gas. Checks are continuing to clarify the circumstances in which the explosion occurred and determine the necessary measures.
