The residents of the cracked apartment building in Drumul Taberei, Sector 6 of the capital, were given permission to return to the building after the specialized personnel of the State Inspectorate for Construction determined that the load-bearing structure was not affected. The decision was announced on Saturday by ISU Bucharest-Ilfov, following the intervention launched after a crack appeared between two stairwells of the building.
Also, the Committee Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations met in an extraordinary session on Saturday and decided that Building OD3 in Drumul Taberei would not be evacuated, with Apa Nova and Termoenergetica set to inspect the pipes. In addition to the inspections, a geoelectric study will also be conducted to determine the source of the leaks.
The crack in the building extends from the fifth floor to the eighth floor. Several people were temporarily evacuated, and the area was inspected by the authorities. The building is listed as having seismic risk.
Bucharest City Hall claims that the problem has existed for approximately nine years and was caused by deficiencies in the sewage system. According to the institution, the leaks must be remedied by the residents, since the building is privately owned.
