The new law of the National Integrity Agency (ANI) has been brought back into the debate of parliamentarians, after the Constitutional Court rejected certain provisions regarding the transparency of the asset declarations of dignitaries.

Deputies are discussing the necessary amendments to align the regulatory act with the decision of the CCR. USR proposed the introduction of a public file for each dignitary, which would comply with the limits set by the CCR, but would allow citizens and the press access to essential information about their financial interests. This file would include information about the companies in which the dignitary has interests, contracts with the state, positions held in organizations or parties, as well as an estimate of assets and debts.

USR deputy, Alexandru Dimitriu, emphasized the importance of transparency, stating that a law of integrity without transparency does not fulfill its purpose.

The Constitutional Court declared an amendment that provides for the cessation of the function for persons in a state of incompatibility, but rejected another amendment regarding the obligation of spouses to complete asset declarations.
