The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) meets on Wednesday to discuss the challenges of unconstitutionality regarding the new Integrity Law. The normative act was challenged in court through a joint complaint by 27 senators from USR and PNL, as well as through a separate action by President Nicușor Dan.
The most controversial provision establishes that elected officials in office, for whom incompatibility or conflict of interest has been definitively established prior to the new law, will lose their mandate within 30 days.
The second refers to the asset and interest declarations of life partners. The new law extends the obligation to submit asset and interest declarations to individuals who have "relationships similar to those of spouses" with dignitaries.
