Vietnam is facing one of the most severe natural disasters in recent years, caused by torrential rains that have led to devastating floods. At least ten people have died and five are missing, according to authorities. The cities of Danang and Hoi An, popular tourist destinations, have been severely affected, with streets completely flooded. Over 103,000 homes have been inundated, and the greatest damage has been recorded in the regions of Hue and Hoi An, where 32 out of 40 communes have been completely covered by water. Record amounts of rainfall, exceeding 1,000 millimeters in 24 hours, have transformed the cities into apocalyptic landscapes. Authorities warn that the risks of flash floods and landslides remain high, and the rains will continue at least until Friday, with estimates of an additional 400 millimeters of precipitation. Transport networks have been severely affected, and hundreds of localities have been left without electricity.
