The bill, passed by a narrow majority of 314 votes to 291, allows assisted dying for terminally ill adults with less than six months to live. Supporters of the bill, who protested outside the parliament, welcomed the decision, while opponents saw it as dangerous. The changes include involving a college of experts for authorization instead of a judge. If approved, the implementation process could take up to four years.
