Turkish authorities have announced that on July 25, the city of Silopi recorded a record high temperature of 50.5°C, surpassing the previous record of 49.5°C set in August 2023. The heatwave is affecting the whole country, leading to devastating fires, including in an area in the province of Eskisehir, where ten forestry workers have died. In some regions, fears of water shortages are growing, with the resort Cesme announcing water restrictions for residents and tourists.
