Austria has broken the absolute temperature record, with a value of 40.8°C recorded on Tuesday in the Vienna-Stammersdorf resort, according to the meteorological service GeoSphere Austria. The previous record, of 40.5°C, was set on August 8, 2013, in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg.

July was exceptionally hot and dry, with severe drought and rainfall deficits of up to 90% in certain areas. The ripening of apricots began about 20 days earlier than the historical average, highlighting the impact of climate change on vegetation.

The owner of a restaurant in Vienna, Nasir Dis, stated that the extreme weather has affected business, with customers preferring to stay at home. Additionally, this summer brought the longest heatwave recorded in June, with average temperatures 1.4°C higher than previous records. Scientists emphasize that climate change, caused by greenhouse gas emissions, contributes to the intensification of extreme weather phenomena.
