The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that he has requested the Pentagon to prepare for a possible rapid military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government does not take measures against the killing of Christians. Trump stated that the USA will immediately stop any aid to Nigeria, calling the country a "nation in disgrace." The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, argued that the killing of Christians must stop and that the Department of War is preparing to act. Nigeria was recently reintroduced on the list of "countries of particular concern" by the Trump administration, which accuses the Nigerian government of religious intolerance. The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rejected these accusations, stating that Nigeria protects religious freedom. Nigeria has also promised to continue the fight against violent extremism. Trump emphasized that military actions will be swift and decisive, without providing concrete evidence of the persecution of Christians.
