U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is not considering strikes on Venezuelan territory, in the context of the intensification of the United States' anti-drug campaign in the Caribbean. The U.S. has recently concentrated a significant military force in the region, including fighter jets and military ships, and the American presence will increase with the arrival of the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier strike group. Although Trump previously mentioned possible attacks on drug-related targets in Venezuela, he clearly stated that he does not intend to carry out attacks on Venezuelan territory. In recent months, U.S. armed forces have attacked vessels suspected of drug trafficking, resulting in the killing of 62 people. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the U.S. of inventing a conflict and denounced the American military deployment in the region.
