Mayor Masafumi Kouki of Toyoake has implemented a local directive to encourage a healthier relationship with smartphones, motivated by concerns about reduced human communication. Although there are no penalties for exceeding the two-hour limit, the goal is to promote self-regulation. The ordinance was recently approved but has sparked mixed opinions among citizens, with some considering it unnecessary. Recommendations include avoiding screens in the evening to improve sleep, considering the negative impact of excessive use on mental health.
