Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan, has issued an order prohibiting the use of smartphones by members of the group and government employees, considering these devices a danger to Muslims. The order was sent to the Ministry of Justice, which informed the heads of military courts in eight regions of the country to enforce the restrictions.
Those who violate the order will be considered offenders and may be subjected to legal proceedings. Additionally, officials have been instructed to monitor compliance with the directive, creating a list with details about the targeted individuals.
The Taliban have previously imposed restrictions regarding smartphones, including a ban on images of living beings. Furthermore, recently, the Ministry of Education has prohibited students from bringing smartphones to schools, and the Minister of Higher Education stated that these devices are among the main enemies of Muslims.
