The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) issued recommendations on Thursday for identifying the phenomenon of "shrinkflation," which involves reducing the quantity of a product while the price remains unchanged or decreases at a smaller rate.

ANPC warns consumers to pay attention to the net quantity and the price per kilogram or per liter, not just the amount displayed on the shelf.

Additionally, ANPC emphasizes that although reducing the quantity is not illegal, producers must transparently inform consumers. The authority recommends checking the net quantity and comparing the price per kilogram or liter to assess the actual cost of the product. Consumers are advised to notice any changes in quantity and to keep the receipt to file complaints in case of non-compliance.
