In a letter addressed to European leaders, the executives of TotalEnergies and Siemens, together with 46 companies, are calling for the repeal of the EU directive on corporate due diligence in sustainability matters. This law, adopted last year, requires companies to address environmental issues and human rights in supply chains, under the threat of substantial fines. The companies argue that the regulation affects Europe's competitiveness and are requesting an adjustment of the legislation to avoid excessive regulation that could impact economic competitiveness.
