The United States has asked Ukraine not to attack American interests in Russia, following a raid on the port of Novorossiysk.

The U.S. State Department has requested the Ukrainian government to refrain from attacks that could affect American economic interests, following a Ukrainian attack on the Russian port of Novorossiysk. Ukraine's ambassador to Washington, Olha Stefanishyna, confirmed that she received a formal message from the State Department but did not provide details about Ukraine's response. The attack on Novorossiysk impacted oil exports from Kazakhstan, which are transported through this port. Stefanishyna emphasized that the U.S. message focused on protecting American economic interests without requesting a halt to attacks on Russian infrastructure.

She also mentioned that Ukraine wishes to develop closer economic relations with the U.S. to obtain security guarantees. The ambassador urged the U.S. Congress to adopt new sanctions against Russia, highlighting collaboration with American lawmakers to limit Russia's revenues in the context of the war.
