A robbery took place at a branch of Crédit Agricole bank in Naples, described by the Italian press as 'like in the movies'. The thieves managed to infiltrate the bank through a tunnel dug from the sewer system, which led directly to a 50-centimeter hole in the floor of the building. During the robbery, at least three attackers, dressed identically and wearing masks, held approximately 25 employees and customers hostage for two hours.
The thieves managed to break into and empty several safety deposit boxes, but the total value of the stolen goods is unknown. Investigators suspect that the operation was planned in advance, considering the equipment found in the sewer system, including a power generator. The police are analyzing evidence and an abandoned vehicle, suspected to have been used by the attackers. Naples is known for such robberies, due to the complex underground infrastructure that allows criminal groups to operate.
