The Kremlin rejected on Wednesday the warning from American President Donald Trump, who claimed that the Russian economy would collapse.
The Kremlin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Russia has considerable reserves and that its economy is strong enough to meet Vladimir Putin's objectives.
Trump stated that Putin could quickly end the conflict in Ukraine, but emphasized that he does not want to do so. Peskov mentioned that Putin is open to negotiations and appreciated Trump's efforts.
Although the Russian economy is experiencing a slowdown, the Kremlin insists that this is an intentional measure to prevent overheating.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak assured that Russia has a stable supply of gasoline, despite some temporary shortages caused by Ukrainian attacks on refining capacities. The West believes that the Russian economy is weaker than it seems, while the Kremlin denies these claims, insisting that it has surpassed the G7 average in 2023 and 2024, despite severe sanctions.
