Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Moscow will respond to Ukrainian attacks on Russian economic infrastructure by targeting "the most sensitive sectors" of the Ukrainian economy. He stated that Ukraine has "opened Pandora's box" through attacks on Russian refineries and logistics centers. Putin reiterated that Russia is open to peace negotiations, but only based on the realities on the ground.
In the context of Ukrainian attacks, which have targeted refineries and retail depots, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian economic infrastructure, including grain exports. Recently, Ukraine attacked a refinery in Tatarstan, causing at least 12 deaths. Additionally, attacks on the logistics centers of the online retailer Wildberries have led to fuel supply restrictions in Russia.
Despite the attacks, Putin claims that the Russian economy is experiencing modest growth. Furthermore, Russia has continued its attacks on Ukraine, including a devastating strike on a shopping center in Krivoi Rog, resulting in 15 deaths and over 130 injuries. Ukrainian leader Zelensky condemned the attacks as terrorist acts, calling on the international community to hold Russia accountable.
