Russia announces "massive attacks" on Ukraine's energy infrastructure

The Russian Ministry of Defense declared on Sunday that the armed forces are preparing "massive attacks" against Ukraine's energy sector, in the context of the intensification of attacks in recent months.

This move comes as a reaction to Ukraine's attacks on civilian infrastructure and the Russian energy complex.

On Sunday, the Russian army announced that it had struck a facility in Kyiv, accusing it of storing explosives, and a drone manufacturer. A day earlier, an attack on an ammunition depot in the suburbs of Kyiv resulted in the deaths of at least 37 people. Ukraine retaliated by attacking a refinery in Russia, causing a fire.

This escalation of long-range attacks targets civilian infrastructure and has resulted in casualties among the population.
