Diesel has become cheaper! The excise duty on diesel decreases by 25% from today, September 1st.

Starting today, drivers who fill up with 50 liters of diesel will benefit from a discount of 8.5 lei, due to the reduction of the excise tax to 25%. This change came into effect at midnight, and gas stations have displayed lower prices by 17 bani per liter. The current price of diesel varies between 9.97 lei and 10.23 lei per liter. The reduction of the excise tax is part of the fiscal measures adopted by Parliament, which also includes limiting the commercial markup.

Although prices have decreased, experts warn that this price drop could be temporary, considering the increase in the price of diesel on the international market. The Ministry of Finance announced that the adjustment of the excise tax represents a significant reduction, aimed at easing the tax pressure on prices and limiting the impact on the costs of consumer goods. The mechanism for adjusting the excise tax will continue to operate dynamically, with periodic reassessments.
