Standard diesel prices fell on Wednesday, October 7, at Petrom and OMV stations in Romania, for the first time since September 1. OMV Petrom reduced the price by 5 bani per liter—a modest adjustment, but the first decline recorded on the fuel market in the past five weeks.
In Bucharest, a liter of standard diesel cost 10.86 lei at Petrom and 10.92 lei at OMV on Wednesday. At Rompetrol, MOL, and Lukoil, the price was 10.97 lei per liter, while SOCAR stations displayed a price of 10.94 lei.
The reduction comes as Romania remains subject to crisis legislation applicable to the fuel market. The regulations cap retailers’ markups at the average level recorded last year, restrict exports, and allow only one price increase per day, no later than 12:00 p.m.
Price developments may vary from one station to another, depending on the company and the area in which the gas station is located. Wednesday’s discount represents the first price cut reported by the main chains since the beginning of September.
