Angela Merkel is launching her memoirs in Bucharest. The former German chancellor will be received at the Cotroceni Palace by Nicușor Dan.

President Nicușor Dan will receive Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, at the Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday at 12:30 PM. The visit takes place on the occasion of the launch of her memoirs titled "Freedom. Memories 1954 – 2021", which will be held at the Romanian Athenaeum, starting at 7:00 PM.

The event will include a public dialogue between Merkel and journalist Emil Hurezeanu, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Tickets are available through Eventbook and include a copy of the book, with the option to obtain a limited number of autographs. The book offers a perspective on Angela Merkel's life, divided between East Germany and reunified Germany, and details key moments from her political career.

The international launch of the volume took place in 2024, in over 30 countries, and Bucharest is one of the few destinations where Merkel will be present in person. The event will feature simultaneous Romanian/German translation.
