The former papamobile of Pope Francis, used over a decade ago in Bethlehem, has been converted into a mobile medical clinic to provide treatments for children in Gaza. The initiative, blessed by the Pope before his death, was carried out by Caritas, the Catholic organization responsible for the project. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi pickup donated by the President of the Palestinian Authority, has been transformed into a fully equipped area for treatments.
Alistair Dutton, the Secretary General of Caritas, emphasized the significant contribution of the clinic to the medical system in Gaza, which can treat approximately 200 children a day. However, access to Gaza remains uncertain due to the conflict, and COGAT has not commented on the vehicle's entry request. Pope Francis has been a constant supporter of humanitarian causes in Gaza, and the initiative reflects his commitment to the children affected by the humanitarian crisis in the region.
