The European Union has announced a significant increase in support for Palestinians by organizing the second meeting of the Palestinian Donors Group (PDG) in Brussels.
The meeting was co-chaired by the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, and the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Mohammad Mustafa, and brought together 65 international delegations. The main outcome was the launch of the Team Gaza Initiative, which allocates 883.6 million euros for rapid recovery projects in Gaza, coordinating international aid. The funds will be used for water, sewage, health, energy, and agriculture infrastructure.
The Palestinian Authority presented progress in internal reforms, including in the fiscal and social protection areas. New financing agreements were also signed through the PEGASE mechanism, which has directed up to now 3.8 billion euros to Palestinians. The EU remains a long-term partner for the Palestinian people, providing nearly 30 billion euros since 1994.
