The European Union allocates over 700 million euros for humanitarian aid, most of it intended for Africa

The European Union will allocate approximately 380 million euros for migration-related actions in sub-Saharan Africa, according to a funding package announced on Saturday. The money will be used to protect vulnerable migrants, support voluntary returns, and assist with their reintegration.

The funding also aims to support displaced communities across Africa, as well as populations hosting relocated people. The measure comes amid pressures generated by conflicts, forced displacement, and humanitarian crises.

The package includes an additional 252 million euros in emergency aid for people and communities affected by conflicts, epidemics, displacement, and natural disasters. Of this amount, 97 million euros will go to sub-Saharan Africa, 103 million euros to the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and 52 million euros to Ukraine, including preparations for the coming winter.

Additional funds, in smaller amounts, will be directed toward promoting stability in the Great Lakes region and toward the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to combat the Ebola epidemic in the east of the country.
