The European Union does not completely rule out the possibility of imposing sanctions against Israel, said the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, on Monday, emphasizing that member states will closely monitor how the ceasefire will be implemented.

The President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, stated that the European Union does not completely abandon the possibility of imposing sanctions against Israel, even after the ceasefire agreement mediated by the USA. Although the ceasefire has changed the context, the EU will continue to observe developments on the ground, especially regarding the aid provided to Gaza. Kallas mentioned that, although no immediate measures are being taken, sanctions remain an option. In July, the European Commission proposed a list of sanctions, but discussions were suspended. Foreign ministers focused on humanitarian aid and security, including the resumption of the EU mission at the Rafah border and training for the Palestinian police. The European Union, the main donor for the Palestinians, has allocated 1.6 billion euros for the period 2025–2027 and will organize a donors' conference on November 20.
