Romania won the gold medal in the 8+1 mixed event at the World Rowing Championship in Amsterdam on Sunday. Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan congratulated the athletes through a message on Facebook, highlighting the efforts and sacrifices of the team. The Romanian crew, consisting of Cristina Drugă, Amalia Chelaru, Adriana Adam, Florin Lehaci, Cosmin Iulian Pleșescu, Simona Radiș, Ciprian Tudosă, Ștefan Berariu, and coxswain Victoria Petreanu, had a strong start, leading by 49 hundredths over the United States at 500 meters.

The race, held without preliminary heats, was marked by an intense pace, and the Romanian team finished with a time of 5:35.75, having a decisive lead. Bolojan stated that the athletes have brought Romania to the top of the world and provided great joy to the nation. This victory comes after, two days earlier, the double sculls crew made up of Adriana Adam and Simona Radiș also won gold.
