Former American President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, refused to testify before a House committee as part of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, after being subpoenaed following their appearance in images and documents related to the case. In a letter addressed to the committee chairman, James Comer, the Clintons stated that his decisions have hindered progress in investigating the government's role in this scandal. They also accused Comer of trying to divert attention from current President Donald Trump's connections to Epstein. Comer threatened that if the Clintons do not appear, they could be charged with contempt of authority. Jeffrey Epstein, known for his sexual offenses, committed suicide in custody in 2019, and his case remains unsolved. Clinton had a friendly relationship with Epstein but denies any knowledge of his illegal activities. Recently, Congress passed a law allowing the release of unclassified documents related to Epstein, but the Department of Justice announced that it would not be able to meet the deadline for releasing all documents.
