The Ukrainian drone attack on a gas processing plant in Orenburg, Russia, had a significant impact on gas production in Kazakhstan, forcing a reduction of 25% to 30% at the Karachaganak field. The plant, one of the largest in the world, has halted gas inflows from Kazakhstan, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Energy. Production at Karachaganak has decreased from 35,000-35,500 tons to 25,000-28,000 tons. Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy facilities to disrupt fuel supplies and cut off Moscow's funding sources. Although the plant could partially resume gas inflows, it is unclear when normal levels will be restored. The Karachaganak field is operated by an international consortium, including Chevron and Shell.
