Ukraine has decided to suspend drone attacks on oil tankers using the Russian port of Novorossiysk, following a request from U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
This request was motivated by the fact that the attacks destabilize oil markets and affect American companies, considering that oil transported from Kazakhstan reaches the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal in this port. Ukraine has agreed not to attack CPC infrastructure or non-Russian vessels, provided that they are not subject to Ukrainian sanctions.
Aside from this decision, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in general, targeting refineries and other strategic objectives. Recently, Ukraine launched an attack with nearly 400 drones on refineries in Russia, including in the Samara and Krasnodar regions, causing significant damage. These actions are part of a broader offensive by Ukraine to reduce Russia's financial resources in the context of the ongoing conflict.
