Swedish authorities have launched an investigation into the cargo ship Caffa, which was sailing under a Guinean flag in Swedish territorial waters. The suspicions were raised by the Swedish police, and the Coast Guard intervened to conduct a search and interviews, having concerns about the seaworthiness of the vessel. No further information about Caffa has been disclosed. Last year, Sweden announced stricter measures for verifying the insurance of foreign ships, as part of efforts to control Russia's "shadow" fleet, which transports oil, gas, and grain stolen from Ukraine. The United Kingdom has also threatened to seize a Russian-linked oil tanker amid rising tensions between the two countries. Military options for capturing rogue ships are under discussion among NATO allies, and British forces recently supported a U.S. operation to capture a ship under a Russian flag in the North Atlantic.
