The state of emergency has been instituted in the Odesa region, Ukraine, due to severe power outages caused by Russian attacks on energy facilities. The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kiper, announced that the decision was made following a meeting of the technological and environmental security commission, considering that over 50,000 residents have been affected by these attacks. Authorities have decided to allocate additional funds to the affected communities to ensure the operation of generators that power critical infrastructures, such as hospitals and educational institutions.
Preventive activities have also been carried out to encourage electricity conservation. Following recent bombings, electricity supply has been restored for nearly 583,700 families, but 32,900 households remain without power. Russian attacks have had a devastating impact on infrastructure, including the seaport in Odesa, where a fire broke out in the grain silos. The bombings have also led to the cancellation of suburban trains, as well as delays in flights.
