The National Forest Administration (RNP) - Romsilva has completed all 19 investment objectives aimed at correcting torrents in the public forest fund, in the counties of Bacău, Buzău, Suceava, Neamț, Hunedoara, Prahova, Vâlcea, and Vrancea, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The project, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, has as its main goal the reduction of flood risk in vulnerable areas. The works included the construction of dams, thresholds, crossings, and channels, as well as the improvement of degraded lands through afforestation and grassing. The investment restored torrent beds over 42.51 km, rebuilt 26 sediment retention structures, and created 203 new constructions, of which 58 were equipped with fish ladders. The project, with a total value of 130.37 million lei, will take place until 2026, aiming to protect communities and infrastructure downstream. Romsilva manages 3.13 million hectares of forests, representing 48% of the country's forested area.
