The Ministry of Environment accessed just over €1.3 billion of the more than €3.6 billion allocated through the NRRP, Minister Natalia Intotero said Thursday in Petroșani. She criticized the loss of a significant portion of the funds and said the state would have to identify financing solutions from the national budget.
Approximately €400 million had been earmarked for rehabilitating dams built before 1989. Among the problematic sites is the Valea de Pești Dam in Uricani, where repairs to the asphalt facing are estimated at €10.5 million.
The project was approved by ministerial order, the building permit was issued by the Hunedoara County Council, and the tender to select the contractor is underway. The works are considered necessary to ensure operational safety and maintain the dam’s functionality, which is important for the Jiu Valley.
During her visit to Hunedoara County, the minister also reviewed the situation of the non-compliant waste landfill in Vulcan, as well as the measures needed to close and remediate it. The visit continues Friday in Deva and northern Hunedoara County.
