Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests Natalia Intotero visited the Paltinu and Măneciu dams in Prahova County on Monday, together with representatives of the institutions responsible for managing the reservoirs and supplying water to the population. The visit took place amid problems that affected the supply of drinking water and the need to find solutions to prevent another crisis.
Following the meeting, the authorities decided to establish an interinstitutional working group. It will set the schedule for interventions, deadlines and the responsibilities of each institution involved. The first report on the work carried out and the necessary interventions is due to be presented in two weeks.
The discussions were attended by the president of the Prahova County Council, Virgiliu-Daniel Nanu, ministry experts, representatives of academia and civil society, as well as officials from Apele Române, the Buzău–Ialomița River Basin Administration, the Prahova Prefecture, the Prahova Emergency Situations Inspectorate, Exploatarea Sistem Zonal Prahova and Hidro Prahova.
Natalia Intotero said that the priority was to ensure that people would no longer be left without water and called for cooperation among authorities, specialists and operators. The minister stressed that the solutions must be concrete, with clear deadlines and responsibilities assumed.
In 2025, work at the Paltinu Dam left more than 107,000 people in Prahova and Dâmbovița counties without drinking water.
