A 39-year-old Romanian man was sentenced by a court in Paris to three years in prison for the sexual assault of a woman in Bois de Boulogne. The prosecutor emphasized that it is unacceptable for women to be unable to walk safely on the streets of Paris. The victim, Carole, described the moment of the assault as traumatic, stating that she now feels hyper-vigilant and fearful. The next day, another woman, Eva, was attacked in the same place, being thrown to the ground and beaten. The identification of the assailant was made possible due to DNA found on the victim's jacket. The Romanian, with a criminal past of 22 convictions, admitted to assaulting Carole but contested the sexual nature of the act. The court decided, in addition to the sentence, to impose a ten-year ban on entering France. The man will be tried again for the violence committed against the second victim.
