A Romanian man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison, with the right to request conditional release after at least 27 years, for the murder of a 63-year-old compatriot, committed on February 20 in Walthamstow, London.
The conflict erupted from a trivial dispute related to the repayment of 5 pounds. During the altercation, the man stabbed his victim in the heart, causing his death. The judge emphasized the aggressor's lack of remorse and mentioned a violent past, including a previous conviction in Romania for a similar crime, in which the victim was also stabbed.
The man arrived in the UK in September 2023, after being released from prison, but did not declare his previous conviction. The judge highlighted his dangerousness, considering that he committed a new crime just three years after his release from prison.
