Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Tuesday, from the border with Belarus, an investment of over 600 million euros, through the European SAFE mechanism, to combat illegal migration and hybrid threats. This amount is in addition to the 500 million euros from the national budget already allocated for border security. Tusk inaugurated a new observation tower and presented an anti-drone system, which will be operational soon.
The Minister of the Interior, Marcin Kierwinski, emphasized the importance of the 6,000 soldiers deployed at the borders to ensure national security. The Polish surveillance system is advanced, including a 400 km electronic barrier, thermal cameras, and artificial intelligence. However, migratory pressure remains high, with over 14,600 attempts at illegal crossing recorded in 2025.
