Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Polish Minister of Defense, stated that Poland was not informed about a possible reduction of American troops on its territory, unlike Romania, which was notified in this regard. In the context of concerns related to NATO's eastern flank and the continuation of Russia's war against Ukraine, American President Donald Trump previously suggested a possible increase in military presence in Poland.
Additionally, the Italian Minister of Defense mentioned that changes in the concentration of American troops began during the Obama administration, highlighting U.S. concerns related to competition with China. In Romania, the Minister of Defense confirmed that the American forces in Deveselu and Câmpia Turzii remain unchanged, but the rotational brigade at Mihail Kogălniceanu has left, and around 1,000 soldiers will remain in the three bases in the country. Moșteanu expressed regret over the withdrawal of the soldiers, considering it a setback for security.
